Backpack
This will be one of the first and simpler sound to create. This will be used within the scene where Wolfgang reaches into their backpack to bring out a piece of Ham. At first I thought of having the sound of an empty backpack being ransacked through but after an attempt, it doesn't feel very alive and very dull. To add onto it being a backpack, I added a chain and a wallet in it to simulate the feel of the backpack being full with different types of objects.
After a few tests, this is the result:
Leaves
Leaves were a tricky one to think of. I could simply go outside and record during a windy day but that would make it difficult to hear since the wind would interfere. So I used plastic covering that is used for packaging and moved it around to simulate that feel and idea of leaves moving.
This is the audio result:
At first it doesn't sound exactly like leaves but the way to achieve it is by having the audio layered with two other versions of it, one being a bit lower pitch and the other being higher pitch. Those different pitches won't play as frequently during the original audio or will be in a form of a wave where it goes from the higher pitch to the lower pitch. This experiment will be documented in post-production
Snow Step
This will be the most frequent sound that will be heard within the animation since all events happen on a snowy turf. This will have different variations as to match the weight and characteristic of different characters being seen. To achieve the sound effect, I'll be using my jacket while it being on a carpet floor and just taping with my hands on it. The reason it needs to be on a carpet floor is because it gives a slight soft after sound rather than having a heavier end to a stop.
This can use some editing in volume or pitch to bring it closer but this is the end result:
Wind
At first I thought of recording during a windy day, but it has the same issue as in recording leaves with there being unnecessary sounds in the background. So instead I simulated it by blowing lightly into the mic closely. The reason of why I need to be close to the mic is since the air will be pushed off the mic, it will sound like as if it's passing by the persons ear giving it more live.
This is the end result of the test:
