Wind Ambience
This will be continuously heard throughout the animation with to embrace the mood and the current situation of the scene. When I first made the animation, I added a soundtrack with copyright free audio from the internet which will not be heard but it will serve as a base for the new soundtrack that I'll be creating.
This is how it currently looks like without the new soundtrack:
The audio in A1 is the soundtrack that will be used as the base of the new one.
Now for making the wind I'll be using both of the files. From recording, I made a short sounding wind and a longer continuous sounding wind. I will first increase the duration of the continuous one to make it sound deeper and be extended, while the shorter and quicker one will have a shorter duration to represent the sudden spikes in the weather. This will give it more life since wind isn't always going at the same pace especially when it rains. To achieve this, I made the continuous one at a duration of 60% and the short paced one at 200%.
This is the end result of changing the sound duration:
A2 will essentially be a loop throughout the animations with there being slight changes when the mood changes, but the audio in A3 won't be heard as frequent. This gives the infrequent changes of a stormy weather especially during the winter season. When placing A2 audio blocks one next to another, there is a quick beep that can be heard when changing the audio. To counteract this, I applied an audio transition between the audio blocks which eliminates the beep.
This will be used for other sounds to counter the issue but this is how it would look like:
Beast Approach
The next stage is making the beast have sound. The only sounds that will be heard that are made from the beast is him stepping in the snow, rustling bushes, growl and a snow fall. They will be in the A2 layer with the random fast wind appearances. What I did to make the audio sound deeper is by changing the pitch down and expanding the duration to 50% which I ended up with this:
At the bottom, I added in the sound of bushes rustling after every step that has been made.
Leaves
Leaves will be a simple one. It will be made the same way wind is made by taking a part of the original audio to be used as a loop and connect them with multiple versions of it and adding an audio transition in-between them. I also set the duration to 50% so that it gets the effect of them being further in the distance.
This is the end result:
